【Principle of Zipper】

The structure of a zipper is a series of teeth. When you zip up the zipper, the slider moves along the rows of teeth meshes together the opposing rows of teeth. The indentation is the strongest way to combine two sides and will not split open or break because of shift.

【Will a zipper be broken?】

When washing the clothes, washing liquid with strong scouring power or bleacher with chlorine will dissolve the paraffin and membrane on the surface of the zipper. Therefore, when you zip the zipper, teeth on both sides can not match up. If you press on the zipper, it will totally disengage except for the puller.

【Will the color of the metal zipper be changed?】

1. Metal zippers made by copper alloy, nickel, pure copper, and brass, applying on metals or woolens, will become black because of oxidation. When the chemicals used to process the leather and woolens remain on products, the gas of the product will make the zipper become black.

2. Metal zipper made by copper alloy is antirust. But copper is oxidative, the antirust process is not a complete solution. To reduce the degree of color change, Please avoid sealing up zippers with cellophane or thick paper.

3. Rubber bands contain sulfides. If you tie up metal zippers with rubber band, the metal teeth will be sulfured (become black). Zippers, according to the usage, are combined by different kind of belt, teeth, and slider. If you process the completed zipper with chemicals, it may cause troubles.

【Do we need to pay more attention to the zipper when ironing?】

Yes. Not only should the clothes iron according to its material, but also the zippers. With suitable temperature, the zipper will keep firm and beautiful. Besides, zip up the zipper when ironing no matter what kind of material it’s made. Fasten the slider and put on a cloth before ironing.

【Should I zip the zipper while laundering?】

Yes. Zip up the zipper while laundering and fasten the slider. If you do not zip up the zipper, the zipper will hurt the cloth and the cloth will stretch. Washing liquid with strong scouring power or bleacher with chlorine will dissolve the paraffin and membrane on the surface of the zipper. Be aware when using.
